I first fell in love with Carson Ellis’ work when I bought my first decemberists record (Castaways & Cutouts) when I was still at school. It is quite possible that she is the reason I ended up abandoning painting for illustration. Many years later her work still feels like a glorious punch in the gut that never fails to make me swoon.
